The Community Service Department staff of the CAPDD, provides community and economic development services for Faulkner, Lonoke, Monroe, Prairie, Pulaski and Saline county and the cities within to help improve the lives of District residents. Working with a variety of funding sources, staff members assist cities and counties with applications for grant funds, and administer the projects once they are funded. Project development, financing, management and administration are coordinated by staff to construct public works, such as industrial park infrastructure, community water and wastewater systems, rural fire departments, day care centers, senior citizen centers and recreational facilities.
Other services include, indidvidual low-income housing rehabilitation or reconstruction, GIS mapping, emergency preparedness, disaster mitigation, Floodplain Management, environmental review services, technical assistance and planning to include Hazard Mitigation Planning.
Community Development staff also work with the Arkansas State Data Center to provide information on the US Census to the general public and local government officials; and serve as the Area-Wide Intergovernmental Clearinghouse reveiwing many grant applications each year to reduce duplication and over-lap between grant-funded projects.
